Tu BiShvat
Tu BiShvat, the Jewish New Year for Trees
Thursday, February 13, is Tu BiShvat, the Jewish New Year for Trees. It is traditional to plant a tree, bush or even a flower at this time. Each year the Men’s Club holds a Tree Drive to plant trees in Israel through the Jewish National Fund (JNF). Everyone is invited to purchase one or more trees for the JNF for $18 per tree to honor the holiday or to honor an individual or event. The return home of more hostages from Gaza is one good reason.

December Temple Happenings
It has been a bustle of activity at Temple B’nai Sholem this December!
On December 8th at the Temple Building, we installed our new Chanukah menorah. All are invited for the lighting at 5pm on December 25th, the first night of Chanukah. Immediately following, there will be another lighting down at Union Point Park at 5:30pm for the lighting of our menorah that is part of the Town of New Bern holiday display. We hope you join us!

On Friday December 14th the Temple once again participated in the Downtown New Bern live window displays where members of the Temple were able to share the joy of Chanukah with our friends and neighbors Downtown
And don’t forget about our Chanukah Party taking place on December 22nd from 1-4 at the First Presbyterian Church, JMSC Gym across the street from the temple. We look forward to seeing you there!
