Temple B’nai Sholem’s Shabbat Mitzvah Meal Program, funded by the Carolina Foundation for Jewish Seniors has been a tremendous success. Since the Program began during the pandemic years, the Pastoral Care Committee team has distributed almost 3,000 Mitzvah Meals to isolated individuals, their families, and our generous Mitzvah Meal volunteers who drive hundreds of miles every other week bringing warmth, delicious food, and greetings for Shabbat.

Mitzvah Meal recipients heap praise on the program and rave about the generous and delicious kosher-style meals Chef Smoke and his staff at the Flame of New Bern prepare for us.

Temple B’nai Sholem honored Chef Smoke, owner of the Flame of New Bern for his role in sustaining our Temple Community during the most challenging days of the pandemic.
