Temple B’nai Sholem – Pastoral Care Committee Supporting Jewish Adults and Our Elders

From decades past to the present Temple B’nai Sholem’s Pastoral Care Committee has supported Jewish adults and their families who find themselves in the throes of life’s challenges. Over the years, with generous grants from the Carolina Foundation for Jewish Seniors (CFJS), the Pastoral Care Committee has carried out programs that support Temple members and Jewish adults who live in the 5 counties the Temple serves.

Temple B’nai Sholem is once again the recipient of a generous grant from the CFJS. This grant enables the Pastoral Care Committee to continue the Temple’s valuable support programs, which include:

One-on-one support care provided by skilled professionals, trained volunteer caregivers, and our Rabbi for end of life support

Bi-weekly freshly prepared Shabbat Mitzvah Meals for isolated elders

Car service rides to and from religious services for Temple members who cannot drive or arrange transportation to the Temple on their own.

With CFJS support, the Pastoral Care Committee works closely with the Jewish Federation of Greater Raleigh. Social work services are available from the Jewish Federation to guide Temple members and their families when they need case management support for decisions about their own or a loved one’s home situation or living arrangements.
