Religious School
Temple B’nai Sholem’s Religious School is for children! Children attend each Sunday morning during the school year for a dynamic hands-on and interactive Jewish education experience.
At Temple B’nai Sholem’s Religious students learn the Alef-Beit and are introduced to reading and writing Hebrew. They learn to read and chant prayers from the Siddur and try their hand at conversational Hebrew.
As they prepare for Bar and Bat Mitzvah, Religious School students learn about being called to the Torah and what it means. They learn to chant the Torah and Haftorah Blessings, read their Torah and Haftarah portions in Hebrew and English, and understand what the Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebration means in their lives.
Torah study and the Jewish holidays take on real-life meaning as children learn about and ponder the meaning of Jewish history and traditions through lively discussions, improvisational acting, arts and crafts, baking delicious holiday treats, and creating beautiful gifts for the Temple community.
As a gift to Temple B’nai Sholem, a talented Religious School Bat-Mitzvah student is completing a compilation of illustrations for “Stories from the Torah” written by her teacher for the Religious School.
